Lots of makeup trends have come and gone, but some in particular have made a permanent home in many of our makeup bags. Love it or lothe it, the trend of contouring is staying put. It’s a trend which stems from back in the day, seen in the classic black and white movies. This is where makeup was used initially used to create definition and shadows on the face and has now been made popular by makeup artists like Mario Dedivanovic. It has been seen on celebrities from J-Lo to the Kardashians and Jenners!
I have done many videos on my YouTube channel all about contouring in the past and present. However, contouring is something which can be dialled up or down depending on the reasoning behind your makeup. Contouring can be done on a day to day basis using a cool toned bronzer, eyeshadow or contour specific product. Placing this on the hollows of your face and where the sun would naturally hit. For me, these are the hollows of my cheeks, hairline & jawline. Doing this will give your face a beautifully defined look. Sometimes, I will also contour my nose to give it some definition. Contouring’s partner in crime is always to add a highlight in the areas you want to bring forward. For daytime if you’re not about the super highlighted look, then KIKO’s Desert Moon Highlighter is perfect to pop onto the high points of your cheeks, bridge of the nose and cupids bow. Personally, contour and highlight work hand in hand to add light and dimension to your face – even for a day to day look!
If you’re like me and you love a bit of glam every now and again, you can easily up your contouring game by layering creams and powders to create a fierce contour which will last you all throughout the day and night for that special occasion. Not only that but it if it done correctly, it can look amazing in pictures.
We all know there are many other makeup trends which have become household, everyday names. Contouring being my favourite I just had to share with you all. What are you favourite makeup trends? Leave me comments below!
