Hi my beauties! How are we all? Anyone sick of the snow? It’s not even snowed here much & I’m hating it to the MAX! To get my mind off of it I thought I’d do a requested, elegant & sleek updo! It’s really easy & doesn’t take much time either. This is what I used…
1. Heat protector
4. Backcombing Comb/Teasing comb
5. Hair grips
6. Hair bobble
You wanna use the correct backcombing/teasing comb. It needs to have TWO sets of ‘teeth’ for better VOLUME. Long & sort alternating teeth to be precise, like the one above! I got mine from Superdrug for about £1.99 🙂 It’s best to start with straight hair (I skipped that stage in pictures because I didn’t wanna bore you :P)
First thing you wanna do is section the top part of your hair like so! Really easy to do – I use the METAL end of the comb to part. Try & make it roughly the size of a gum packet wide & end it before your head curves down to your neck. I like to tie the rest of the hair together so I don’t get mixed up. The PINK LINES show where you wanna roughly separate your hair to backcomb – leaving a SMALL section at the front unteased! Backcombing/teasing hair is where you use the comb to push the hair down to the roots to create VOLUME (there are loads of YouTube tutorials on it)! If you’re doing it on your self start from the BACK moving towards your face 🙂
Hair spray each section as you tease. The top of your hair should look something like this 🙂 Then you wanna get TWO strands (same size as before) of hair from both sides of the teased section – like the picture on the right hand side. Sorry it’s not very clear but the pink line shows the two strands I teased 🙂
You should end up with something really MESSY like this. I didn’t tease it too much but each to their own 🙂 Any ways, the next bit is super easy…
You wanna grab the teased bits of your hair together & SMOOTH the top over by combing it. Then secure it with some grips at the back 🙂 I like to twist the section & put the grips in an ‘X‘ shape for extra security (my hair is SUPER thick!) – Easy peasy!
The last step is to grab the rest of your hair (smooth it as you go along) & tie it into a PONYTAIL just under where you griped the teased bits 🙂 Give it a quick hairspray to give it an extra hold 🙂
I like to finish this look off with some BIG EARRINGS 🙂 & you’re ready to go! I’m thinking to do this to my hair at some point during the PARTY SEASON – it’s the perfect look for it 🙂 After some practice it doesn’t take more than 20 minutes to do 🙂
By the way, how GORGEOUS are these earrings?! My mum got me them from her last trip to India 🙂 I love wearing cute, antique looking earrings like these 🙂 What do you like doing to dress up a simple hair style & how will you be having your hair this party season?
